From the beginning, this project felt different in the best way. The homeowners, parents of four young kids, brought incredible warmth, energy, and hospitality to every step of the process. Meetings often included home-baked treats, thoughtful conversations, and a genuine sense of partnership.

Their home wasn’t just a house—it was a living, breathing ecosystem filled with life: dogs, bunnies, birds, a snake, even a praying mantis. Somehow, it all fit. The energy was joyful, abundant, and full of heart.

We opened up the kitchen early on, taking down walls to create better flow for the family’s daily rhythm. The homeowner, an avid baker, had dreamed of a Lacanche range from the beginning, and we built the kitchen around it, pairing it with a marble countertop ready for flour-dusted afternoons. Brass details, glass-front cabinets, open shelving, and a rounded island edge added a balance of elegance and durability. Just off the kitchen, we tucked a breakfast nook wrapped in V-groove paneling, with a dropped ceiling to create a cozy, cocoon-like feel. East-facing windows flood the nook with soft morning light, while a simple cafe curtain adds a charming, everyday touch.

The rest of the home followed the same spirit—thoughtful, personal, and welcoming. The dining room centered around a locally crafted Lock & Mortice table, paired with vintage Thonet chairs the clients had lovingly collected years before. It’s a space built for long dinners, storytelling, and easy laughter. In the living room, we reimagined the original fireplace, keeping its shape but stripping away heavy old detailing. A new gas insert, designed to feel aged but timeless, was wrapped in contemporary marble, giving the space a fresh yet grounded feel that ties the whole home together.
